For centuries the Scottish Borders have produced Tweeds - in fact the name 'Tweed' immediately conjures up a picture of the Border hills and valleys. The company is based at Forest Mill, Selkirk in the heart of the Borderland. The original building dates from 1838, and was one of the first mills in the town. Of specific historical interest, it is now classed as one of Scotland's "listed buildings".
Now in its second generation, this small family business is very much alive and flourishing in the 21st Century.
Set up in 1973 by Andrew Elliot, after 30 years of experience as a textile designer and consultant, the company began producing designs in tweeds, rugs, scarves and ties from Forest Mill using shuttle-operated looms.
Over the years, we have taken on more challenging work for clients who require that something special, as well as adapting and expanding our own range of designs. Our current range of designs utilises the very best combinations of colour and quality, and is all produced on site at Forest Mill. |
